‘His passion and perfectionism shine through in everything he does. His Combi:Nations mix series has been a huge critical and commercial success, giving listeners at home the entire spectrum of Marco’s sound, from intimate backroom floors to the Dutch techmachine in full effect on the dancefloor. His artist album 200V was a similar smash spawning yet more dance floor destroyers and catapulting him onto the Radio 1 playlist. 2008 sees the 3rd artist album and several brand new singles from Marco and it goes without saying – all combined, they’ll form another accolade for the V mantelpiece!
Genius, pioneer, legend – throw all these glowing tributes his way and Marco will just shrug them off with an unassuming smile. These are words used regularly when his name is mentioned but this doesn’t lead him to arrogance. Some people are born with music running through their veins and Marco V is one of them – A musical chameleon whose musical fire burns on and on. Year in year out – it feels like the story of Marco V has only just begun!’

BACKGROUND
- BEATSMEDIA:
Coming out of the Netherlands with so much great talent there, can you tell us a bit about the history of your earlier career start and how that has changed your sound?
- MARCO V:
I started years ago as a hip hop dj and doing the DMC DJ battles contests. Later on I became the main resident dj at the Danssalon one of the key clubs here in Holland. After that I started producing my own music, when I made Simulated and Godd my international DJ career took off.
- BEATSMEDIA:
Having played clubs like “The Gallery”, “Danssalon”, “Calder Park Thunderdome” and other big festivals, what would be your favourite gig you’ve performed at?
- MARCO V:
That’s a hard one to tell, but one of them that I really like are Sensation white parties. It’s always massive and the production of the party is outstanding, it close to perfect: light, sounds, visuals and a big crowd all dressed I white gives it a very unique atmosphere.
- BEATSMEDIA:
A lot of fans know about the “Death Threats” a couple years ago in Syria, how has that affected or changed things when making decisions with bookings?
- MARCO V:
Luckily It was a one time incident, you can almost 99% say it was a just a idiot on the Internet. Maybe a competitive promoter, but it’s hard to tell when you never been to a country before to know what’s going on over there. In other situations I ask my fellow dj’s or we call an agency that had dj’s perform there before. I had a offer to go again in July but it was postponed last minute by the promoter. So I will hopefully go to Syria in the near future ;-)

PRODUCTIONS & METHODS
- BEATSMEDIA:
There’s so much more new technology available for producers these days, can you tell us what new equipment or software your using in your own studio, and describe to us how effective it is using these new technologies?
- MARCO V:
It’s fantastic to use the new soft synths nowadays. Now I can also produce when I’m on the road something that was never possible before. I make my music in logic and use all the soft synths like everyone else: Omnisphere, predator, massive etc. etc. In my main studio where I do all the final mixing, I use UAD for all the plug inns to finalize the master.
- BEATSMEDIA:
What was your main motivation to keep you going for such a long time in the industry?
- MARCO V:
Very Cliché, but it’s the just the love of music. This is what i want to do, I like to be in and around music….
- BEATSMEDIA:
When you work on tracks, do you ever test your production on different types of sound systems prior to the final mix downs?
- MARCO V:
Absolutely, at least 3 or 4 weekends I test the tracks on different crowds and sound systems.
- BEATSMEDIA:
‘Spamarrest’ has to be one of my ultimate favourites of yours, can you tell me what inspired you to create such a killer track?
- MARCO V:
Thank you ;-) Yeah I really like it myself as well. It’s just one of the things you make when you have no idea what to make. You start with a baseline and next the day you have a track like Spamarrest.
- BEATSMEDIA:
Further to ‘Spamarrest’ Your latest track ‘WTFN’ has just been released, and yes it’s another superb track, good job Marco. Care to share the studio time spent on this release?
- MARCO V:
It’s a remix of ‘When the night Falls’ from my latest propaganda part2 album. When it first came out it didn’t have the success we where hoping for so this is the re release. The vocals on that song is from my studio mate Benjamin Bates. We are working together now for almost 14 years.

DOWNTIME
- BEATSMEDIA:
The ultimate location for relaxation time?
- MARCO V:
Thailand, very commercial but really like it there. Nice people, great atmosphere and every one is so relaxed…
- BEATSMEDIA:
It’s World Cup fever everywhere, are you cheering on any teams?
- MARCO V:
Yes of course The Dutch team is in the race, our whole country is wearing orange to support them.

UPCOMING & SPECIAL
- BEATSMEDIA:
Any upcoming events we need to pencil in to our diaries?
- MARCO V:
On Sep 4th I will have the launch party of my new label TAO. It will be in my hometown at a very unique location. More info to follow soon
- BEATSMEDIA:
Any special message for the fans and friends that have helped you within your career?
