Prior to forming Beatsmedia, I (Rachel Rixham) owned and managed a successful online radio station; namely Citybeat Radio. Throughout the 4 years in which Citybeat was running I came to meet some of the most wonderful people within the Music industry. Luckily I managed to strike a repour with many of these good, real, hard working people within the music sector; and to this day those close bonds that were formed have become invaluable.

In addition to the wide array of contacts gained through Citybeat, I gained practical hands-on experience of working with Artists, DJs and Agencies alike. Often the various roles I took on within the station led to me working the most unsociable hours, staying up for days on end just to tend to DJ’s and the website. As time progressed I began to not only manage the DJ’s, shows, website, taking on DJ’s, demo listening and all round everything; but also found that I had a skill for, and indeed enjoyed, promoting the artists and DJs; so much in fact that I long considered a move towards full-time promotion and representation (even this domain, beatsmedia was purchased some years ago, for this very reason). Sadly though, as time progressed the rapid growth and success of Citybeat became too much to handle, citybeat simply outgrew itself, something had to give, and out of the ashes of Citybeat rose Beatsmedia.

The experienced hands on selection of DJs, and promotion there of, was the key to Citybeats pleasurable success, and is the foundation of Beatsmedia. Pick the best Artists and promote them as much as possible, because there is a darker and deeper side to the Music industry, and it’s very difficult to push great Artists through to the ears of the right people.
