Cogito (Original Mix)
Fast hard kicks and punching snares combined with thrilling hihats burst out the speakers as soon as you turn up the volume. The composition starts to get an interesting shape when a soothing arppegiated glides into the scene seamlessly followed by another contagious synth. A sound of what appears to be part of the woodwind instrument family pleasantly flashes the progression – so gently that we barely notice we are already letting the silky piano line embrace us in the breakdown.

The leading melody comes in with the kick drum fading in, just as imperceptible as it went out, and before you know it, you’re back dancing to these delicious trance beats again.

Good release coming from Evgeniy Gorbunov, this Russian producer who’s also the man behind the alias: Johan Curtain. Look out for him!

Cogito (Lasheen Remix)
A sweeping sound makes the beginning of the drum construction extra special – not to mention the funky clicking sounds. In a delightful turn of events, some cinematic loops invade the scene to concept a deeper approach to the original’s vibe. An awkward fact to point out is how I felt like I was in a sci-fi movie, even though Lasheen does not use any robotic sound – it was probably the intensity he conquers with the great bass and the other wooshes that made me feel out of this world. The producer also brings an interesting change in the main synth, thanks to the clever usage of filters to spice up this brilliant rework.

Cogito (K.R.J. & Staro Remix)
Keeping up with the melodic vibe of the original, this remix empowers the guitar and the piano melodies of the breakdown, providing an extremely emotional feeling to this stunning composition. This rework moved me with its thoughtful progression, based on the effective bassline and drum rack that faultlessly create just the right atmosphere for the emotional part of the track graciously sweep you off your feet. Deep and touching progressive house rework coming from the producers – no surprise in there since Staro is also behind the great C-Systems!
